Anyone any knowledge of asbestos removal? Need to replace soffits and guttering.?
I've been told if I take it down, that's legal but if contractor does it w out a certificate then he is breaking the law. How dangerous is " low risk" ? Years ago I removed asbestos sheets from a garage roof, having been told by Building Regs. people that the asbestos products were over 90% cement and the asbestos used was not the dangerous stuff, like they used in lagging pipes. Presumably my old gutters and soffits are the same as they were put up 40 yrs ago. I'm now very confused , it seems to be a case of double standards. Any help appreciated,thanks
Strong chemical odor in house after asbestos removal?
My house was flooded, and when the restoration company came out, they told me my vinyl flooring contained asbestos and an asbestos removal company needed to remove it.The company came out and informed me it was a high risk removal due to vinyl on concrete. They worked solid for the past 2 days and completely sealed off the area. After they took down everything and left yesterday, I've noticed a very strong chemical type smell throughout my house. In fact, today it seems stronger than when they left. Does anyone know what this smell is, and should I be remaining in the house? I am a cancer survivor so am extremely cautious when it comes to chemicals.Thanks for answers. I should add that the restoration company have driers and dehumidifiers working 24 7 in this area now so is probably responsible for blowing the odor throughout the house. They want all doors and windows to remain closed. They are not available over the weekend, so can't call till Monday. I don't know if my ins. co. also closed would pay for a motel until then.
How much does asbestos removal cost in RI?
We have what looks to be asbestos wraps on our hot water pipes and we are knocking our house down. I was told it will have to be inspected and removed if it is asbestos. I was told by one company it would be at least $800. Can anyone give me an idea of what it may cost and if that sounds right? There may be 20 30ft of it.Thanks
I need advise on asbestos removal..?
I just hired someone to remove asbestos floor tiles in my basement and i left the house and now i'm back home, and what i can see on the ground is the black glue and all windows are open.. I'm just a person who doesn't know anything about asbestos and I wanna make sure this is proper removal, there's dusty white choke like material on the floor and there's an adore that i've never smelled before.please if you're a professional in the business give me an advise on what to do..I'm guessing the black glue does have asbestos residue.. and how do i handle the situation, i paid half of the project..should i contact the police ? what should I do? this person is obviously not taking it seriously .. should I take it seriously? it's in my basement, should i move away?how much exposure is too much... too many questions, who should i ask?he said he's licensed, but he's got the handyman attitude and the " its fine" remarks..

Hey, my husband and I are looking into buying a tiny little house, built in the 1930s. The home is only 900 sq feet at worst, what would asbestos removal range in price? Under $1000? We want to knock a few walls down, so your tips are appreciated And is buying a home with abestos worth it? The home is underpriced and in an awesome neighborhood. THANKS
